Drivers of farm mechanization and its impacts on cropland expansion and intensification
Recently, policymakers and private actors have stepped up investments in mechanization, demonstrating a strong faith in the potential of mechanical power to maintain or raise farm production and productivity in many countries in Africa south of the Sahara. This study assesses whether the recent public and private efforts to improve farmers’ access to mechanical power in Ghana have had the intended effects on the country’s agricultural sector.
